Who IS Our HOPE?

Alright,

This will probably be the most unpopular blog I have ever written but I have to say something.

This year's presidential election is obviously on everyone's mind and as we draw nearer to November and the ads are running and debates start and everyone has their bumper stickers and t-shirts, the big question on everyone's mind is who will be the next leader of our great country.

What I feel like people are forgetting is that whomever becomes the next president...is just a man. He's human. He is not perfect. He will never be perfect. He will make some good decisions and some bad ones. He is not our HOPE. We cannot put our FAITH in him. We cannot put our TRUST in him. He is not in control. God is the only one worthy of hope, faith and trust. He is in control. Jeremiah 17:5"This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. "

Whomever gets elected will get elected because God wants him in that place to fulfill His (God's) purpose and ultimately bring glory to Him (God). Romans 13:1[ Submission to the Authorities ] Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Anyone who claims that place that is rightfully God's will be brought down and humbled.
Isaiah 2:17 "The arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day..."

I feel like people have become idolistic in their views of their candidate. Exodus 20:3"You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below." Even Christians, which is what upsets me the most. We know the truth. We know how God designed things, whether that be government, marriage, killing babies, or religious freedom. And, I believe, that we as Christians will be accountable to God for our actions at the polls.

Don't get me wrong, I believe in voting. I believe voting is our God given duty as citizens of a free country founded on democracy. And especially having the right as women to vote makes our role that much more important. But our vote needs to be in line with God's word, not our emotions.
1 Peter 2:13-15 "Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. "

There is right and wrong. God's way is right and every other way is wrong. Our president's job is not to be god. His job is to punish wrong and commend right. That's not his view of right and wrong, it's God's.

So please, I beg you, be prayerful about your choice. Ask for discernment and wisdom and for nothing to cloud your view.

Can I get a witness?

good stuff kel:)

not sure if this lines up with what you are saying but
i'm starting to think that it actually doesn't matter who gets elected
either way good things & bad things will happen
either way God is still God...
i mentioned this to a friend
& she was shocked
(oh i like to shock 'em:)
but we talked about it more
& about how what if we lived in a different country
one that you have no say in who gets elected?
is God not there with you & your country?
of course he is!
i agree that you need to research & vote for who lines up best with what you believe...
but the issues are so much bigger than who ends up in the white house...
the questions are bigger...
& in the end we need to look at Jesus & say 'no matter what is going on in the world how can i show you & be more like you?'

what's the most important thing?
"That you love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and muscle and intelligence—and that you love your neighbor as well as you do yourself."
Luke 10:27 (the message)

thanks for bringing it up, miss
you are a brave girl:)
