By the looks of this picture you would think H was the one that I had to talk into wearing his costume but nooooooooooo! You would be wrong. It was O. But, the reason his smile is so big is because in order to get him into his costume I told him that kids that wear costumes on Halloween get candy. Yes, that's right, I bribed my child because I did not want to look like a boring mother who never lets their kids do anything fun like dress up as their favorite thing on Halloween. To tell you the truth, my kids could have cared less. They looked at all the other people with costumes on as if they were aliens.
I'm not a huge Halloween fan. Loved dressing up and getting candy as a kid. Never did pranks, never liked being scared or spooked, think the whole making a big deal of ghosts, devils, skeletons is kind of the opposite of what my life should celebrate. Just my personal opinion, and of course now that I am a mom, it's even more so. Yes, I am going to let my kids dress up and get take candy from strangers. Wouldn't want to be the mom with a stick up her butt. I just don't know how Christians are supposed to treat Halloween. Something to chew on.
On a happier note....
I absolutely loved taking the boys to the pumpkin patch/petting farm. We didn't ride the hay wagon out to the big patch because it was $20 per adult/$7 per kid, plus the price of your pumpkins. What a croc! I miss Lone Pine.
Anyway, we did get to see cows, pigs, turkeys (that will soon be Thanksgiving Dinners) and sheep. This sheep was the best. She was absolutely the hugest sheep I have ever seen and everytime anyone would whip out their camera she would smile like this:
Happy Fall!

$20 per adult? seriously? that is craziness!
& after having a 'discussion' about this at bible study the week before halloween i will tell you that in our house we celebrate halloween like nobodies business & we have fun & we dress up & we go trick or treating & we give out candy & we talk about it all: what's fun, what's scary, why some poeple dress up scary, & we will just keep doing that just like we do all year long when other things happen like people are mean or cats die...we are living here at this time in history & we are going to do our best to explain & help them make good choices so when they are older they can do it on their own
can you tell i'm fired up?
can you tell that other people didn't agree with me?
can you tell that maybe i should go write on my own blog so that i don't take up all the space on yours?
also you should know that i think everyone should do what they think is right
i don't care really
i'm just trying to get through the day
doing the best for my family
(sigh)
:)
love you & your little train boys:)
