These past few days my boys have turned a new corner, so to speak.
They have become friends.
It is something I have been trying to encourage and pray for.
When H was born O just ignored him.
That is until he started crawling.
Then when H started walking he also started destroying things.
Like O's block towers and his train tracks.
Now H has learned to build block towers and train tracks,
and can understand when O asks him not to break things.
We came back from vacation to find our boys speaking
politelty to each other, playing together for hours, sharing,
hugging, kissing, and saying 'excuse me' without being asked.
Today we had O's three-year-old apt. and H's 18-month apt.
I told O that H was going to get some shots today. O was
very concerned. Here is the conversation:
Me: O, H is going to have to have some shots today at the doctor.
O: Oh know, I don't want H to have shots!
Me: I know, me neither, but it is to keep him healthy and growing strong.
O: But H is so beautiful!
Me: (tearing up) Yes he is, isn't he. He will still be beautiful after his shots.
O: But he is my H-buggers (H's nickname)
Me: You can help me hold his hand and give him kisses and tell him it's ok
O: oh yes, I can do that. H needs me. We are brothers.
Yes you are little man. I hope you are always there for each other in your times of need.
Love, love, love this time.
